Community Child Protection & Fatality Prevention Team

Community Child Protection and Fatality Prevention Team (CCP/FPT) was established by law as a means for the state and local communities to form a partnership to strengthen child protection.

This team is an interdisciplinary group of community representatives who meet regularly to provide a community wide approach to the problem of child abuse and neglect, as well as review records for deceased county residents under the age of 18.

The team utilizes these reviews to:

  • Identify deficiencies in the delivery of services to children and families by public agencies,
  • Make and carry out recommendations for changes that will prevent future child deaths, and
  • Promote understanding of the causes of child deaths.

This group meets quarterly. The co-chairs of this team are the DSS Director and the Health Director.
