Stokes County Toy Program

 

Each year the Stokes County Department of Social Services (DSS) sponsors a Christmas program (Stockings for Stokes) to help provide items for families in need.  DSS accepts applications from all Stokes County residents who have financial needs.  DSS workers go through the applications and their caseloads to determine the neediest families and provide for them.

The Stockings for Stokes program is designed to serve children from birth to age twelve.  Last year, DSS served 339 families, 651 children, and expect the need to be the same or greater this year.

Applications can be picked up at the Department of Social Services.  The distribution dates are Tuesday, December 15^th and Wednesday, December 16^th, 2009.  We will begin at 5:00 p.m. and finish around 7:30 p.m. each night.
