COUNTY HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN
The Stokes County Multi Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation
Plan has been updated by Stokes County.
The updated Stokes County
Multi Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan will continue
to serve as a blueprint for the County and all municipalities to follow to
help
reduce property damages and save lives from the effects of future natural
hazards. The Stokes County Multi Jurisdictional
Hazard Mitigation Plan is required in order for the County
and all municipalities to receive certain types of state and federal disaster
relief
funding when future disasters, e.g., widespread flooding occur.
The public, along with neighboring communities, agencies,
businesses, academia, nonprofits and other interested parties are
invited
to view the Hazard Mitigation Plan which is located in the Stokes County
Emergency Services Office located at
106 Old Church Road, Danbury, NC or the Stokes County
Administration Office located at
1014 Main Street Danbury,

Public Hearing
The
Stokes County Commissioners will hold a public hearing on October 25, 2010 at
6:00 pm in the Commissioner’s Chambers
in the
Administrative Building located at 1014 Main Street, Danbury, NC. The hearing
is in regard to application for grant funds
to the NC
Division of Community Assistance (DCA). The County intends to apply for
a $400,000 grant to provide comprehensive
rehabilitation to 7 dwellings and emergency repairs to another 7 dwellings.
