The Board of
Commissioners of the County of Stokes, State of North Carolina, met
for a special session in the Commissioners’ Chambers of the Ronald
Wilson Reagan
Memorial Building (Administrative Building) located in Danbury, North
Carolina on
Thursday, November 1, 2007 at 7:00 pm for a joint meeting with the
Stokes County
Board of Health.
The following Board of
Commissioners was present:

Chairman Leon Inman called the joint meeting
to order for the Board of
Commissioners.
Chairman Dr. Mark Johnson called the joint
meeting to order for the Board of Health.
Chairman Inman delivered the invocation.
Chairman Inman opened
the meeting by inviting the citizens in attendance to
join both Boards with the Pledge of Allegiance.
CLOSED SESSION
Chairman Inman entertained a motion on behalf
of the Board of Commissioners to enter
into closed session to consult with the Attorney employed or retained
by the Public Body in
order to preserve the attorney-client privilege between the Attorney
and the Public Body, which
privilege is hereby acknowledged, and to consider and give instructions
to an attorney
concerning the handling or settlement of a claim, judicial action,
mediation, arbitration, or
administrative procedure pursuant to G.S. 143-318.11(a)(3).
Commissioner Lankford
moved to enter closed session to consult with the Attorney
employed or retained by the Public Body in order to preserve the
attorney-client privilege
between the Attorney and the Public Body, which privilege is hereby
acknowledged,
and to consider and give instructions to an attorney concerning the
handling or settlement of a
claim, judicial action, mediation, arbitration, or administrative
procedure pursuant to G.S. 143-
318.11(a)(3). Vice Chairman
Walker seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Chairman Johnson on
behalf of the Board of Health entertained a motion to enter into
closed session to consult with the Attorney employed or retained by the
Public Body in order to
preserve the attorney-client privilege between the Attorney and the
Public Body, which
privilege is hereby acknowledged, and to consider and give instructions
to an attorney
concerning the handling or settlement of a claim, judicial action,
mediation, arbitration, or
administrative procedure pursuant to G.S. 143-318.11(a)(3).
Commissioner Carroll
(on behalf of the Board of Health) moved to enter closed session
to consult with the Attorney employed or retained by the Public Body in
order to preserve the
attorney-client privilege between the Attorney and the Public Body,
which privilege is hereby
acknowledged, and to consider and give instructions to an attorney
concerning the handling or
settlement of a claim, judicial action, mediation, arbitration, or
administrative procedure
pursuant to G.S. 143-318.11(a)(3). Dr.
Kevin Walker seconded and the motion carried (9-0)
with member Betty Shackleford absent.
Both Boards returned to open session of the joint meeting.
Adjournment
There being no further business to come before
the Board of Commissioners, Chairman
Inman (on behalf of the Board of Commissioners) entertained a motion to
adjourn the special
session meeting.
Commissioner Lankford moved to adjourn the
special session. Vice Chairman Walker
seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
