The Board of Commissioners of the County of Stokes, State of North
Carolina, met in recessed session (recessed from the January 9, 2006 meeting)
in the Commissioners’ Chambers of the Ronald Wilson Reagan Memorial Building
(Administrative Building) located in Danbury, North Carolina on Wednesday,
January 18, 2006 at 6:00 pm with the
following members present:

Chairman Leon Inman called the recessed meeting to order.
Commissioner Walker delivered the invocation.
Chairman Inman opened the meeting by inviting the citizens in
attendance to join the Board with the Pledge of Allegiance.
CLOSED SESSION
Chairman Inman entertained a motion to enter into closed session for
the following:
Vice Chairman Joe Turpin moved to enter into closed session for the
following:
Commissioner John Turpin seconded and the
motion carried unanimously.
The Board re-entered into regular session of
the January 18, 2006 recessed meeting.
GENERAL GOVERNMENT –
ADMINISTRATION –INTERIM COUNTY MANAGER
Commissioner John Turpin moved to appoint Darlene Bullins as Interim
County Manager and Dennis Thompson as Budget Officer/Consultant which will be
hired on a contract part time basis at a rate of $350 per day.
Vice Chairman Joe Turpin seconded the motion.
The Board discussed naming a current employee or current
commissioner to the position as interim manager, best possible solution for the
county’s current situation, and main emphasis is to focus on the process to
find a permanent county manager.
The motion carried (3-2)
with Commissioner Walker and Chairman Inman voting against the motion.
There being no further
business to come before the Board, Chairman Inman entertained a motion to
adjourn the meeting.
Vice Chairman Joe Turpin
moved to adjourn the meeting.
Commissioner McHugh seconded and the motion
carried unanimously.
