 STOKES COUNTY COMPREHENSIVE TRANSPORTATION PLAN

 

The Stokes County Planning Board held a public meeting on Thursday, March27, 2008 to review and make a recommendation to the County Commissioners concerning the Stokes County Comprehensive Transportation Plan. The Planning Board by a vote of 7 to 0 recommended approval of the plan and maps. The Town of Danbury held a public hearing on February 27, 2008 at which time they approved a resolution of support for the proposed plan and maps. The Town of Walnut Cove held their public hearing on March 4, 2008 in which they also approved a resolution for support of the plan and maps.  

 

The Board of Commissioners will view a presentation of the plan from the North Carolina Department of Transportation and the Northwest Piedmont Council of Government. The Board will review transportation maps and written recommendations concerning the plan. An approved comprehensive transportation plan will allow the county the ability to compete evenly with other counties in our district and the state for available transportation dollars.
